Image of confirmed COVID-19 case graphicUpdate Dec. 21, 2021: KFL&A Public Health has declared an outbreak at Winston Churchill Public School Dec. 21 following the identification of another positive case of COVID-19 in the same cohort.

One student on Dec. 20. This case was already isolating, so no new impact on school community.

One student 
on Dec. 19. One class cohort has been directed to isolate.

Previously, one staff member tested posted on Dec. 18 resulting in four class cohorts being directed to isolate; three students tested positive on Dec. 16 requiring two class cohorts to isolate. This brings the total number of cases at the school to five.

Those identified as close contacts of the positive case have been given specific guidance in messages sent from KFL&A Public Health. One class cohorts has been directed to isolate. 

KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

Families are encouraged to continue to monitor and screen students daily for symptoms of COVID-19 as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting. Do not send students to school if they are sick or symptomatic. 

Please continue to follow all public health guidelines which include maintaining physical distance, wearing face coverings, and cleaning your hands frequently.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
