Winston Weekly – Welcoming November!
Dear Winston Families,
Welcome to November! It is hard to believe we are already into another month of learning, growing, and making wonderful memories together. November is shaping up to be a terrific month at Winston, with lots of exciting learning opportunities and experiences for our students!
Throughout the month, several of our classes will be heading out on special learning adventures. Some classes will be visiting Wynn Farms, while others will enjoy a visit to the Agnes Etherington Art Centre. Mr. Pottery's Grade 5/6 class will also be heading out to learn and explore with Beyond Classrooms. These experiences provide wonderful opportunities for students to make connections beyond the classroom, discover new things, and bring their learning to life. We are so grateful for the opportunities our students have to learn in such engaging and meaningful ways!
November is also a time for reflection and remembrance. At Winston, we will be holding a Remembrance Day ceremony to honour and remember the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. We will take time as a school community to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many in the name of peace and freedom. It is important that we help our students understand the significance of this day and the importance of gratitude, respect, and remembrance. We encourage families to take a few moments together on November 11th to reflect on the meaning of Remembrance Day and the importance of honouring those who have served.
A reminder that Thursday, November 20th is a Professional Development (PD) Day, and there will be no school for students that day. Our staff will be spending the day learning and collaborating to continue strengthening the teaching and learning experiences we provide for our students.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. It is such a pleasure to see our students growing, discovering, and embracing new opportunities each day. We look forward to a wonderful November together!
Warmly,
Jolene & Your Winston Team
